DW Krynauw books
David Wilhelm Krynauw (1916–2001) served as an archivist in Cape Town, Pietermaritzburg, Pretoria, and Windhoek. He also held the role of secretary of the Commission for National Monuments in South West Africa and was a prolific writer.
During his tenure in Windhoek, the National Monuments Commission published several historical writings by David. Among other subjects, he conducted research on shipwrecks along the Skeleton Coast.
In 1994, DW Krynauw and G.S.J. Moller co-published Blouberg: Ons beroemdste strand. Piet Cillié praised the work as “an enduring appreciation and cherishing of a historical and aesthetic treasure of South Africa.”
In 1999, David published Beslissing by Blouberg, which examines the British conquest of the Cape and the end of Dutch rule in January 1806—a turning point in South African history.
